Cottonwood Lakes has a long history of being the waters in which all Golden Trout eggs were collected and raised at the Mt Whitney Fish Hatchery. These offspring have been planted throughout the world. You can fish these lakes Sept 1 thru Nov 30th. There are Goldens up to 18 inches. Cottonwood Creek also hold Goldens and this stream can be fished year round.

A paved road reaches about 10,000′ elevation and Goldens can be found within the unnamed streams surrounding the parking area. For other Regions and specific streams and lakes, visit the website.
