Uni Thread 6/0 and 8/0

Description

Uni Thread 6/0 and 8/0 is an exceptionally strong thread for it’s diameter. The polyester thread lies somewhat flat and is lightly waxed. Excellent for small flies and securing dense body materials such as quills. It does not split well. Uni-Thread is a bonded thread that is reinforced with multiple binder strands that twist around the core strands at a much higher rate to produce the rounded shape. Because of that shape, Uni Thread 6/0 and 8/0 tends to build bulk vertically on the hook shank rather than horizontally as nylon threads do. Polyester also has less stretch than nylon, about 15%.

The round cross section coupled with less stretch and a more textured surface, this polyester thread allows for a bit more “bite” and “grab”. Round thread bites into and flares hard hairs like deer, elk, and moose better than flattened thread does. The thread also grabs onto dubbing a little better due to the rough texture. You can flatten the thread by unwinding the thread. The 6/0 thread is a 135 denier with a 0.041 mm diameter and a breaking strength of 930 grams.
