Turkey Round Wing Quills

Description

Turkey Round Wing quills are the secondary wing feathers on the bird. The secondary quills are more rounded on the tips and softer than the primary quills, known as Turkey Biot quills. Turkey Round Wing quills make great hopper wings, muddler wings, and wings for many wet fly patterns. They can also be used for wing cases on nymphs where a lighter wing case is needed.

When using wing quills for wings on wet flies, and muddlers, a matching pair of slips from a left and right feather are most commonly used. The fibers are also perfect for wrapping dry fly bodies in sizes 12-24. Use6/7 fibers for a size 12 and 1/2 fibers for a size 24. Tie the tips at the end of the hook shank and wrap forward building a nice body for a dry fly. Another fun use is to marry the fibers together for wings that can be used on classical salmon flies or even current wet flies calling for a wing.
